Hey everyone! Thank you so much for visiting my website. I hope you are able to enjoy my photography and design work and some of the things in this blog. My name is Abigail Johnston and I live in the beautiful state of Maine! Growing up I got to work with my family on our beef cattle farm in rural Maine where each day is full of new experiences and learning opportunities. When we got hit with Covid and everything was shut down, I made the decision to go to my local community college and get my associates in Digital Graphic Design. This was not something I thought I would do as a career until the Summer of 2020. I was scared that I was making the wrong decision, but I trusted God to guide me through because I knew He had a plan and a purpose for me. As part of that program I learned about photography, which is something that I love! Working on the farm gave me the opportunity to see the beauty of creation and the silly things the cows would do, which I loved to capture! I remember being so nervous for my first photography assignment, but when I started doing it, I realized that I didn’t need to be nervous. I was learning and learning is a process that builds. I started from those two photography classes at my local community college. There I was able to learn about using DSLR cameras and the roles of composition, lighting, white balance, Raw vs. JPeg, and so much more. Now I am continuing to learn through practicing in various circumstances and other photographers, which builds on what I learned in those two classes. All it takes to get started in something is a choice and willingness to learn. I fell in love with photography on my family’s farm taking pictures with my Dad’s smart-phone. Now, I am getting opportunities to grow and mature in my photography skills because of that decision. Make a choice, have a willingness to learn, and trust God to take you through it.
