Working on the farm with my family has taught me so much about working with others and being flexible to any given situation. My favorite thing to say after a long day of working with my Dad is “Teamwork is the Dreamwork!” Teamwork really is the dreamwork! It allows you to learn so much about yourself and the other person. You learn to work with another person and see situations from another perspective which allows you to figure out situations more efficiently and learn more from the situation.
This is also true for photography! You need a team standing with you as you go through this process. Photographing events, individuals, business products, or brands takes a major time investment. Sometimes this team cheers you on, literally works with you, reminds you that you will always find something to edit in a picture, and points out a few areas you need to work on.
My sister, Lindsey and I realized this at a recent wedding that we photographed where we combined our skill sets and problem solved in several situations by combining our perspectives. Lindsey is really gifted with communicating with people on posing which was extremely helpful at this wedding because it was a large family. This allowed me to focus on getting the pictures and she was able to focus on who needed to be in the picture and where to have them stand.
When starting a business or in the thick of growing a business you need people that can come alongside you to teach you, work with you, encourage you, and challenge you in the process. It takes teamwork and realizing that working with someone else can improve your work, allow you to be more efficient, and make the experience better for the client.
